Product Description

Bias tape is a unique narrow woven or narrow width textile strip cut or woven on the 45° bias or with bias-cut functionality, which gives it greater flexibility and ability to conform to curves and contours. According to textile definitions: “Bias tape or bias binding is a narrow strip of fabric … cut on the bias … more stretch and better drape … used in finishing raw edges, binding seams, and decorative trims.” As a manufacturer specialising in narrow woven tapes, our bias tape offering builds on that technical concept — weaving, slitting, heat-setting, and finishing the tape to perform in complex fabric installations.

Our manufacturing process begins with the selection of appropriate yarns: cotton or cotton-polyester blends for softness and aesthetic, or synthetic yarns for stretch recovery and dimensional stability. We weave the base cloth at a width suitable for bias processing, then slit and heat-fold or double-fold into bias tape, applying processes such as waxing (for sewability), edge fusing (for non-fray), and optionally attaching a latex-coated reverse side for grip when mounted as piping or binding. The term “bias” in bias tape manufacturing can also imply that the tape is woven at a skewed angle to the warp direction, or more commonly slit on the bias, enabling greater drape. As such, when used around curves (armholes, necklines, mattress corners, upholstery edges), bias tape maintains smoothness without puckering — a key performance benefit.

Our product range includes widths from 10 mm to 50 mm, single-fold, double-fold, bias-fold, in custom colours and yarn counts. Finishes may include silicone softening, flame-retardant treatment (for contract upholstery) or latex backing for adhesion.
